2010 Atlantic Open
April 15-18, 2010

The Atlantic Open will be held April 15-18, 2010, at The Tower (SaintMary's University) in Halifax.  We are anticipating a VERY large draw this year, since Lester Jinks has promised to bring 40 players from PEI along to compete.  We're also hoping for a big showing from New Brunswick clubs, in addition to the strong numbers we usually get from other clubs in Nova Scotia.  This means we may need to adjust the usual structure of the tournament to accommodate as many players and divisions as we would like.  Although we realize this might make things more complicated for our out-of-town guests, we are dealing with limited access to squash courts, and fairly restricted facilities hours at The Tower.  Please send us any feedback you can IMMEDIATELY with your thoughts and comments, as we want to make this the best event possible.

1.  We are making it a priority to include as many junior divisions as possible, as this is a build-up year to the Canada Games 2011.  We are also going to do everything we can to allow Juniors to compete also in the Main Draw events.
2.  We may have to cap the registration, on a first-registered-first-entered basis. The exact cap cannot be determined until we generate match statistics using TournamentSoftware as registrations come in and are compared to our capacity.  This means you should register EARLY.  We will also close registration promptly (and absolutely) at midnight on Sunday April 11, so that we can formally set the draw as earlier as possible for out-of-town guests.
3.  Players wishing to compete in multiple divisions must accept that they cannot have any playing restrictions other than 'No Thursday Match', and they must be prepared to have back to back matches if we cannot reasonably avoid such conflicts.  We hope you appreciate the difficulty of setting tight draws, and we value your flexibility.

4.  To accommodate large draws with multiple divisions per player, we might need to extend the duration of the tournament, ending perhaps as late as 4pm on Sunday!  We realize this is a LARGE change for out-of-town guests, so we're looking for your feedback about this possibility.

2010 New Brunswick Open Results

Our facility hosted a fantastic event this weekend. The results of the tournament are posted online at www.tournamentsoftware.com and can be reached here . There were plenty of good matches and it was a bonus to see so many juniors participating. We would like to once again thank everyone who did play in
the tournament and all of those who volunteered to make the weekend a success. A special thanks to Matt Goobie, Nicole Belliveau, Liam McGuigan, Marc Lalonde, John McNally, John Redding, Tom Hurlbut, Sarah &
Hannah and of course Barry Williams for putting on a great show Saturday evening. Plenty of others also helped out by setting up, cleaning up, and other miscellaneous duties. Many thanks to all of you!
